New Super Mario Bros is a side-scrolling platform based action game. This game follows in the great tradition of many side scrolling Super Mario Games before it. The game’s plot is similar to those of other side-scrolling Mario games before and bears a nostalgic similarity to the original 'Super Mario Bros.' The game follows the hero -Mario - as he fights his way through hundreds of Bowser’s henchmen to rescue the fair Princess Peach. Mario has access to several power-ups that make beating up bad guys easier. These include the legendary Super Mushroom, the Fire Flower, and the rare Starman, each giving him unique abilities and changing the way you play. Traveling through eight worlds with a total of 80 levels, Mario must defeat countless nasties, search for secret areas, defeat Bowser's son Bowser Jr. and then finally defeat the great bad turtle Bowser himself, before finally saving Princess Peach.
Multi-player allows users to compete against each other as Luigi and Mario to see who can collect a set number of stars. Unfortunately there is no 2 player cooperative mode.
